Sharing Prevention with a Smile

Despite oppressive heat on July 20, the White Rock Medical Center team provided important community outreach at a health and safety fair sponsored by the Dallas Police Department’s local patrol division.

Participating staff educated seniors about prevention of strokes, prevention of falls and heart health, as well as shared information about services at the hospital. In addition, the team conducted blood pressure checks for seniors in attendance at the fair. The event took place at a local church, and staff were able to meet and make connections with other partners who care for our community as well.

“Last year, we could only convince a couple of seniors to check their blood pressure, but this year we checked someone’s blood pressure every five minutes! We served a real community service by participating in this event,” explained Melissa Grych, director of marketing and communications.
