White Rock Medical Center has been designated an Aetna Institute of Quality® Bariatric Surgery Facility for treating individuals living with morbid, or extreme, obesity.

Blue Distinction Center by Blue Cross Blue Shield

​Blue Cross Blue Shield named My New Beginning a Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery®. To achieve this recognition, White Rock Medical Center met numerous criteria that included: full accreditation from The Joint Commission or Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program, a required volume of bariatric surgeries during the recent 12-month reporting period, staffing by an experienced and appropriately credentialed bariatric surgical team, and utilization of appropriate equipment and staffing.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas is a Division of Health Care Service Corporation, a Mutual Legal Reserve Company, an Independent Licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.

Cigna Certified Hospital for Bariatric Surgery

White Rock Medical Center is named a Cigna Certified Hospital for Bariatric Surgery. This designation means the hospital has met Cigna’s rigorous quality standards.

“Our designation as a Cigna Bariatric Center is a testament to our highly skilled and experienced team of physicians and staff who are dedicated to improving the health of our community,” says Tracy Campbell, R.N., Director of Clinical Quality Improvement at White Rock Medical Center. “Our surgeons and staff work very hard to provide excellence in patient care, and this recognition is evidence of the high standard of care we deliver every day.”

The Cigna designation is based on multiple criteria, including full approval by the Surgical Review Corporation; meeting Cigna clinical outcome thresholds for complications, mortality, re-admission within 30 days of discharge and re-operation within 30 days after initial operation; range of obesity services; and number of bariatric surgery procedures performed.
